Programs at First Church Academy

At First Church Academy, play is our work, and the daily schedule includes structured and varied opportunities for the growth of the whole child through exploration of the world around them. Children follow a flexible daily schedule that meets the individual needs of the diverse population of children and families served by our program, including those with cultural, language and developmental differences. Daily activities include indoor and outdoor physical activities, which will allow for fine and gross motor development and opportunities for problem-solving experiences that help to formulate language development and sensory discrimination. Children can express their own ideas and feeling through creative experiences in all parts of the program.

Most importantly, we value the bonds and partnerships we develop with our families. You know your children best, and we rely on your input and support to provide your children with the highest quality care.

Above all, we want children to feel safe, respected, and loved in a setting that is like a home away from home.

Creative Curriculum

At First Church Academy teaching staff are trained in Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum-a research-driven, proven curriculum that provides the framework for observations that inform teacher assessments. Creative Curriculum covers 36 distinct objectives for early childhood development addressing the content areas of social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, science & technology, social studies, and the arts. Teachers intentionally plan activities and experiences that provide children opportunities for growth across the domains. This assessment tool is then used to inform planning within the classroom and the overall program and for the individual child.
